You are advised to bring jungle boots and rain jackets, as the park is often wet. Once you find the gorillas, you will spend time in awe watching them go about their daily activities. Each encounter is unique and rewarding, offering close-up views of adults feeding, grooming, and resting, while the youngsters playfully frolic and swing from vines.
Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is a magnificent expanse of dense, ancient rainforest that survived the last ice age. Recently declared a World Heritage Site, it is one of the most biologically diverse areas on Earth. Its rich and unique flora supports roughly half of the world’s mountain gorilla population, estimated at just about 600 individuals.
The forest is also home to a substantial chimpanzee population, and research shows that Bwindi is the only forest in Africa where these two great apes coexist. After this remarkable experience, you will return for dinner and an overnight stay at Buhoma Lodge or Silverback Lodge.
