TRIP DETAILS

Day 1: Travel to Bwindi – Stopover at the Equator

Wild Planet begins your journey with a hotel pickup in Kampala or Entebbe. Our professional driver-guide briefs you about the safari and drives you southwest to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The journey takes approximately 8–9 hours, but you will enjoy a comfortable ride through Uganda’s stunning countryside.

We stop at the Uganda Equator for photography and a simple water experiment demonstration. Later, we pause in Mbarara town for lunch before continuing to Bwindi. You will arrive in the evening, check in at your lodge, enjoy dinner, and relax for the night.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking & Batwa Cultural Experience

Wild Planet ensures you start your day early with breakfast before transferring to the park headquarters for a briefing at 8:00 am by Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers. The rangers assign you to a group of up to eight trekkers—the maximum number allowed to visit a single gorilla family per day.

You then enter the forest with experienced guides to track the gorillas. The trek can last between 1 to 6 hours, depending on the gorillas’ location and movement. Once you find them, you will spend one unforgettable hour observing them as they feed, groom, play, and interact in their natural environment.

In the afternoon, Wild Planet arranges a cultural visit to the Batwa community. The Batwa were the original inhabitants of the forest before relocation. During this visit, you will experience traditional music, dance, storytelling, and gain insight into their unique heritage. Afterward, return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Return to Entebbe

After breakfast, Wild Planet transfers you back to Kampala or Entebbe International Airport. Along the way, you will enjoy scenic views of the Kigezi Highlands, rolling hills, and lush vegetation. We can arrange an additional stop for lunch and relaxation before drop-off.
