Day 1: Kigali – Mount Bisoke Hike

Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, a professional Abunda Discoveries driver-guide will warmly welcome you and provide a short safari briefing. You will then drive to Volcanoes National Park to begin your Mount Bisoke hike.

The hike rewards you with breathtaking views of the Virunga Mountain Range and a stunning crater lake at the summit, surrounded by misty highlands and lush vegetation. This active experience offers a perfect introduction to Rwanda’s natural beauty. After the hike, you will transfer to Tiloreza Volcanoes Eco Lodge for relaxation, dinner, and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Golden Monkey Trekking – Transfer to Bwindi

After an early breakfast, you will return to Volcanoes National Park for a Golden Monkey trekking experience. These energetic and playful primates leap through bamboo forests, creating fantastic photography opportunities and a memorable wildlife encounter.

After the trek, your Abunda Discoveries driver-guide will drive you to the Cyanika Border and assist with a smooth border crossing into Uganda. You will then continue to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, one of the most biologically diverse forests on Earth and home to nearly half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas. Arrive at Bweza Gorilla Lodge in time for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

Today marks the highlight of your safari. After an early breakfast, your driver-guide will transfer you to the Rushaga sector headquarters for a detailed gorilla trekking briefing.

You will then trek through dense rainforest in search of a habituated gorilla family. Once you find them, you will spend one magical hour observing their behavior as they feed, play, and interact. This intimate encounter ranks among the most powerful wildlife experiences in Africa.

After the trek, return to your lodge for relaxation. In the afternoon, you may choose an optional Batwa community visit, where you will learn about the traditional lifestyle of the indigenous forest people.

Day 4: Bwindi – Kibale Forest & Chimpanzee Trekking

After breakfast, you will depart Bwindi and enjoy a scenic drive through Uganda’s rolling countryside to Kibale Forest National Park with your Abunda Discoveries guide.

Known as the primate capital of the world, Kibale hosts over 13 primate species, including large populations of chimpanzees. Upon arrival, check in at your lodge and later head into the forest for an afternoon chimpanzee trek. Watching chimpanzees swing through trees, communicate, and interact socially offers an exciting and educational experience. In the evening, return to Bweza Kibale Lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Kibale – Kampala via the Uganda Equator

Enjoy a relaxed breakfast before beginning your journey to Kampala/Entebbe. Along the way, stop at the Uganda Equator to take photos and shop for souvenirs.

Continue through Uganda’s green landscapes and rolling hills until your drop-off point in Kampala or Entebbe for departure. This marks the end of your unforgettable gorillas, chimpanzees, and golden monkeys safari with Abunda Discoveries.
