This 5-day Uganda Wildlife and Primate Encounter Safari by Wild Planet combine classic wildlife viewing, a unique horseback safari, mountain gorilla trekking, and chimpanzee tracking. The journey takes you to Lake Mburo National Park, Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, and Queen Elizabeth National Park—three of Uganda’s most iconic safari destinations.
You will enjoy game drives, a night safari, horseback riding, boat cruises, and unforgettable encounters with endangered mountain gorillas and chimpanzees. Expect to see wildlife such as zebras, giraffes, elephants, lions, leopards, buffaloes, antelopes, and a rich variety of bird species. This safari is ideal for travelers with limited time who want a rich and immersive Ugandan wildlife experience.
Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, a Wild Planet professional safari guide meets you for a warm welcome and transfers you to your hotel in Entebbe (10–20 minutes’ drive).
After check-in and relaxation, your guide briefs you on the safari. If time permits, enjoy an optional visit to the Entebbe Botanical Gardens and the shores of Lake Victoria, Africa’s largest freshwater lake and the source of the River Nile.
Accommodation Options:
After breakfast, depart for Lake Mburo National Park, stopping at the Uganda Equator Line in Kayabwe for photos and a fascinating water experiment demonstrating hemispheric forces.
Continue to the park, check in to your lodge, and enjoy lunch. In the late afternoon, set out for an evening game drive, followed by an exciting night safari. Spot zebras, impalas, giraffes, buffaloes, elands, and—after dark—nocturnal animals such as leopards, hyenas, civets, porcupines, and bush babies.
Accommodation Options:
Start the day with a 2-hour horseback riding safari, guided by experienced rangers. This peaceful activity allows you to view wildlife up close without disturbing the environment. Zebras, impalas, and elands often approach curiously.
After breakfast and check-out, drive south with a stop at Igongo Cultural Museum to learn about the heritage of the Ankole people. Continue to Lake Bunyonyi, Uganda’s deepest lake, for lunch and a canoe boat ride exploring its scenic islands.
Later, proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, home to endangered mountain gorillas.
Accommodation Options:
After an early breakfast, transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing before your mountain gorilla trekking experience. Hike through dense rainforest in search of a habituated gorilla family and spend one magical hour observing these gentle giants in their natural habitat.
After the trek, enjoy lunch and drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park, arriving in time to relax at your lodge.
