You will enjoy thrilling game drives, guided primate treks, scenic road trips, and rich cultural encounters. Along the way, you will admire breathtaking landscapes, including the Kigezi Highlands in Kabale and the rolling tea plantations of Fort Portal.
Upon arrival, your Wild Planet driver-guide will warmly welcome you, brief you about the safari, and begin your journey in a comfortable air-conditioned vehicle with complimentary bottled water.
You will travel to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, located along the Uganda–Rwanda border in Kanungu, Kabale, and Kisoro districts. The drive takes approximately 8–9 hours, depending on traffic and stopovers.
You will stop for lunch in Mbarara, where you may enjoy traditional Ankole dances and cultural experiences. As you continue to Bwindi, you will take in stunning views of the Kigezi Highlands, banana plantations, tea estates, and cattle farms. Upon arrival, you will check into your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
After an early breakfast, you will head to the park headquarters for a briefing on gorilla trekking guidelines. Park officials will assign you to a group of up to eight visitors to track one habituated gorilla family, helping to minimize human impact on these endangered primates.
Accompanied by an armed ranger for safety, you will begin your trek through the forest. The trek may last between 2–5 hours, depending on the gorillas’ movements in search of food.
Once you locate the gorilla family, you will spend one magical hour observing them as they feed, play, and interact. Capture photographs and videos while maintaining a respectful distance.
After the trek, you will return to the lodge. In the evening, you may take an optional community visit to meet the Bakiga and Batwa communities, where you will experience traditional dances and local crafts before returning to your lodge.
After breakfast, Wild Planet will transfer you to Queen Elizabeth National Park. The journey begins between 8:00–9:00 am and takes approximately 4 hours.
You will enjoy a game drive in the Ishasha sector, famous for its unique tree-climbing lions. During the drive, you may spot elephants, buffaloes, antelopes, and other wildlife. If time allows, you can take a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, known for its high concentration of hippos and birdlife.
You will then check into your lodge for dinner and overnight.
After breakfast, you will head to Kyambura Gorge for a briefing before your chimpanzee trekking experience. The trek usually lasts 2–4 hours.
Kyambura Gorge, located within Queen Elizabeth National Park, hosts chimpanzees along with over eight other primate species, approximately 100 tree species, and nearly 350 bird species.
After the trek, Wild Planet will transfer you to Kibale National Park in preparation for the next day’s adventure. You will check into your lodge for dinner and overnight.
After breakfast, you will proceed to the Kanyanchu Tourist Center for another briefing before entering the forest for chimpanzee trekking.
