The adventure culminates in Kibale Forest, where you will track chimpanzees in their natural habitat and engage with the welcoming Bigodi community, adding a cultural dimension to your wildlife journey.
This safari is ideal for nature lovers, photographers, primate enthusiasts, and adventurous travelers seeking a once-in-a-lifetime encounter with Africa’s most fascinating primates.
Your adventure with Wild Planet begins early in the morning with breakfast at your hotel, followed by a smooth transfer to Entebbe International Airport. Here, you board a scheduled domestic flight to Kisoro Airstrip, the gateway to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
As the aircraft lifts off, you enjoy a spectacular bird’s-eye view of Uganda’s diverse landscapes. The scenery transitions from the expansive waters of Lake Victoria and lush lowland basins to rolling hills, patchwork farmlands, and eventually the mist-covered highlands of southwestern Uganda. As you approach Kisoro, dense forest canopies blanket the rugged terrain, signaling your arrival near Bwindi — a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Africa’s most biologically rich forests.
Upon landing, a Wild Planet professional safari guide warmly welcomes you and transfers you by road to your lodge, nestled along the forest edge. After check-in, you enjoy lunch and spend the afternoon at leisure, soaking in panoramic views of the rainforest and surrounding hills. The sounds of the forest provide a soothing backdrop as you relax and prepare for the extraordinary encounters ahead.

Today delivers one of the most exclusive wildlife experiences offered anywhere in Africa. After an early breakfast, your Wild Planet guide escorts you to the park headquarters for a detailed briefing by Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers. You receive important guidelines on gorilla behavior, safety, and conservation before embarking on your gorilla habituation experience.
Accompanied by expert trackers and armed rangers, you hike deep into the forest in search of a gorilla family undergoing the habituation process. This experience allows researchers to gradually familiarize gorillas with human presence, and as a visitor, you become part of this important conservation effort.
Once you locate the gorilla family, you spend up to four incredible hours observing them at close range. You watch silverbacks assert dominance, mothers nurture their young, juveniles play and tumble through the vegetation, and the group interacts naturally in its environment. This extended time offers unmatched opportunities for photography, observation, and appreciation of gorilla behavior.
After the experience, you trek back to the starting point where your Wild Planet guide transfers you back to the lodge. The remainder of the day is dedicated to relaxation, reflection, and storytelling over a delicious dinner.

The trek varies in duration depending on the gorillas’ movements, but the journey itself is richly rewarding. Along the way, your guide points out Bwindi’s remarkable biodiversity, including colorful bird species. Ancient tree ferns, butterflies, and other primates such as black-and-white colobus monkeys, L’Hoest’s monkeys, and occasional sightings of rare reptiles like the three-horned chameleon.
When you finally encounter the gorillas, you spend one magical hour in their presence. This intimate moment allows you to observe their facial expressions, social bonds, and playful behaviors. At times, curious juveniles may approach closer, creating unforgettable moments that stay with you forever.
After the trek, you return to the park center where you receive a gorilla trekking certificate, recognizing your participation in gorilla conservation. Your Wild Planet guide then transfers you back to the lodge for lunch and relaxation.
