Day 1: Arrival – Transfer to Kibale Region

Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, a Wild Planet representative welcomes you and provides a full safari briefing.

You then begin your journey to western Uganda, passing through scenic countryside and the historic town of Fort Portal. Wild Planet transfers you to Ndali Lodge, which offers breathtaking views of ancient volcanic landscapes, the Rwenzori Mountains, and the Bunyaruguru Crater Lakes.

After your journey, relax at the lodge by swimming in the pool, strolling through the gardens, or unwinding on the terrace while enjoying the spectacular scenery.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Tracking in Kibale Forest

After breakfast, Wild Planet takes you to Kibale Forest National Park for chimpanzee tracking. You follow experienced rangers into the forest to track habituated chimpanzee families in their natural habitat.

Watch the chimps feed, swing through the trees, groom one another, and communicate through loud calls that echo across the forest. This close encounter offers a truly memorable wildlife experience.

In the afternoon, visit Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, a community-run conservation area rich in biodiversity. You may spot:

• Papyrus Gonolek
• Great Blue Turaco
• Various monkeys
• Butterflies and wetland birds

You also visit local community projects supported by tourism initiatives before returning to the lodge for dinner.

Day 3: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

After breakfast, Wild Planet drives you to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Along the way, you may take a guided walk in the foothills of the Rwenzori Mountains and enjoy spectacular views of the mountain range.

Upon arrival in the park, enjoy a game drive across the Kasenyi Plains, known for large herds of Uganda kob and lions. Depending on the season, you may also see elephants, buffaloes, and other wildlife.

The Mweya Peninsula offers excellent game-viewing opportunities and stunning views across the water toward the Rwenzori Mountains. This area also provides one of the best chances to spot leopards in dense thickets.

Day 4: Kyambura Gorge & Kazinga Channel Boat Cruise

Today, Wild Planet takes you to Kyambura Gorge, a dramatic forested valley set within open savannah. Here, you track chimpanzees in a unique and contrasting ecosystem.

Since the chimpanzees move frequently, tracking may involve several hours of trekking. The effort rewards you with close encounters with our closest primate relatives.

After lunch, enjoy a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, which connects Lake Edward and Lake George. The channel hosts one of Africa’s largest concentrations of hippos. You will also see elephants, buffaloes, crocodiles, and numerous water birds such as pelicans and African fish eagles.

Day 5: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After breakfast, Wild Planet drives you south to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. If road conditions allow, you pass through the Ishasha sector, where you may spot the famous tree-climbing lions.

Enjoy the scenic drive through rolling hills and terraced landscapes before arriving at your lodge near Bwindi Forest. Depending on your arrival time, you can explore the lodge surroundings, visit nearby villages, or relax while enjoying views of the forest canopy.

Day 6: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi

After an early breakfast, Wild Planet takes you to the park headquarters for a gorilla trekking briefing. Experienced rangers guide you through Bwindi’s dense forest in search of a habituated gorilla family.

The trek can last several hours and requires moderate physical fitness due to steep and sometimes muddy terrain. When you finally encounter the gorillas, you spend one unforgettable hour observing them as they feed, groom, and interact peacefully within their family group.

In the afternoon, you may choose optional activities:

• Guided nature walk to see endemic birds and butterflies
• Visit to local community projects such as Bwindi Community Hospital
• Cultural experience with the Batwa people, the forest’s original inhabitants
