The 3-Day Gorilla Trekking & Lake Bunyonyi Safari combines an extraordinary wildlife encounter with a relaxing nature escape. This short yet rewarding journey takes you to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for an intimate gorilla trekking experience, followed by a peaceful retreat to the scenic shores of Lake Bunyonyi, known for its breathtaking islands and cool, tranquil atmosphere. It is an ideal safari for travelers seeking adventure, natural beauty, and relaxation in a limited timeframe.
Your safari begins with an early morning pick-up from your hotel in Kampala, Entebbe, or Kigali. Your professional driver-guide will brief you before setting off on a scenic drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home to nearly half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas.
As you travel through southwestern Uganda or across the Rwandan border, you’ll enjoy picturesque landscapes featuring rolling hills, banana plantations, and vibrant local communities. You’ll stop for lunch along the way and enjoy photo opportunities.
In the late afternoon or early evening, you’ll arrive in the Rushaga or Nkuringo sector of Bwindi. Check in at your lodge and relax in preparation for the following day’s gorilla trek.

After an early breakfast, you’ll transfer to the Bwindi park headquarters for a comprehensive pre-trek briefing conducted by Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers. You’ll then begin your gorilla trekking adventure, hiking through Bwindi’s dense and misty rainforest in search of a habituated gorilla family.
The trek may take 2 to 6 hours, depending on the gorillas’ location. Once located, you’ll spend a memorable one hour observing these magnificent primates as they feed, play, and interact in their natural habitat.
After the trek, you’ll drive to Lake Bunyonyi, one of Uganda’s most beautiful and tranquil destinations. Often referred to as the “lake of a thousand islands,” it is surrounded by terraced hills and offers a refreshing change of pace.
On arrival, check in at your lakeside lodge and relax, or take a short walk to enjoy the surrounding scenery.
