Gorilla Habituation Location in Uganda

Gorilla habituation is conducted only in the Rushaga Sector, located in the southern part of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. Bwindi is home to over half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas, with more than 600 individuals living in this ancient rainforest.

The park has four trekking sectors, but Rushaga is the only sector where gorilla habituation takes place.

Getting to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

You can reach Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park in two ways:

• By road: Approximately 9–10 hours’ drive from Entebbe or Kampala
• By air: A 45-minute domestic flight to Kisoro or Kihihi airstrip, followed by a short transfer to your lodge

What Happens on the Gorilla Habituation Day?

Your day begins early with a 7:00 a.m. briefing at the Rushaga park headquarters. Park rangers and researchers explain:
