Before departing Kigali, your guide takes you on a tour of Rwanda’s vibrant capital city. Kigali showcases thriving markets, modern development, and scenic mountain terrain. The city stands as a powerful symbol of resilience and progress.
You may also visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial, where survivors and visitors honor those who lost their lives in the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi. The memorial offers a place for remembrance, reflection, and education for both Rwandans and international visitors.
Volcanoes National Park ranges in altitude from 2,400 meters to 4,507 meters. The park features a chain of dramatic volcanoes that give it its name (Parc National des Volcans). It gained international recognition through the pioneering mountain gorilla research conducted by Dian Fossey over nearly 20 years.
Gorilla treks can be strenuous, as the trails climb through dense forest terrain. Once you meet a gorilla family, park regulations allow one hour of observation. Spending time with these magnificent primates creates a rare and deeply memorable experience.
Wild Planet selects accommodation ideally located near the park, offering easy access to gorilla trekking and beautiful natural surroundings.
Enjoy Rwanda’s flavorful cuisine and warm hospitality. Take guided walks, learn more about gorilla conservation, and immerse yourself in the stunning landscape.
