Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer from Arusha to Tarangire National Park
Your journey begins with a morning transfer from Arusha to Tarangire National Park (approx. 2–3 hours). Known for its giant baobab trees and the largest elephant herds in northern Tanzania, Tarangire also offers sightings of lions, leopards, buffalo, giraffes, and over 500 bird species. Enjoy a game drive through the park’s river valleys and savannahs, where wildlife congregates around the Tarangire River. In the late afternoon, head to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Accommodation: Tarangire Safari Lodge
Meals Plan: Full Board
Day 2: Transfer from Tarangire to Lake Eyasi for Cultural Experience
After breakfast, you will be transferred from Tarangire to Lake Eyasi (approx. 3–4 hours). Lake Eyasi is home to the Hadzabe and Datoga tribes, two of the last remaining hunter-gatherer and pastoralist communities in East Africa. Spend the day engaging with the Hadzabe, joining them on a traditional hunting walk, and learning about their ancient survival techniques with bows and arrows. Later, visit the Datoga blacksmiths to observe traditional metalwork methods. This immersive experience offers a glimpse into Tanzania’s cultural heritage. Dinner and overnight at a lodge near the lake.
Accommodation: Lake Eyasi Safari Lodge
Meals Plan: Full Board
Day 3: Transfer from Lake Eyasi to Ngorongoro Crater then Arusha
Rise early for a transfer from Lake Eyasi to Ngorongoro Crater (approx. 2–3 hours). Descend 600 meters into the crater for a half-day game drive in this UNESCO World Heritage Site, often called the “Garden of Eden” for its dense concentration of wildlife. Spot lions, elephants, zebras, wildebeest, buffalo, hippos, and—if lucky—black rhinos. Enjoy a picnic lunch inside the crater before ascending and beginning your transfer back to Arusha (approx. 3–4 hours), arriving in the evening. This marks the end of your 3-day wildlife and cultural safari.
